Special guest Prof. Joseph Lo Bianco will officially launch "For a Better Life" the story of Italian Migration to the Myrtleford District
For a Better Life spans more than 150 years of Italian migration in the Ovens Valley and uncovers a
journey to escape turmoil and start a new life halfway round the world. The stories of migrating men,
women and children to the Myrtleford district, as told by thirty Italian families, are combined to
reveal the development of an Italian culture as it adapted and merged with an Australian way of life.
“….a volume that informs, enlightens, delights and inspires the reader”, and “….the design of the book is exemplary in the way the editors have chosen to thread themes from the family stories across every chapter, and this makes for compelling reading”, and “…..For a Better Life is also for all Australians, interested to know how we came to be who we are”
– Joseph Lo Bianco, AM, FAHA, Professor Emeritus, Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne.

Michelini Wines - Cellar door
10am -5pm 213 Great Alpine Road
The Tuscan villa inspired Cellar Door sited on the Great Alpine Road, Myrtleford was built in 1998 and is the final step in the evolution of Michelini Wines.
Ilario, Dino and family can be justifiably proud of their family's success, with the key to producing quality, award winning wines being the similarity in the region's climate to the Trentino Alto Adige region, the techniques used in the vineyard and their passion in the wine making process.

Happy as Lazzario! (M) - Myrtleford Lions Club Italian Movie Night
7pm - 9.15pm Education Myrtleford Performing Arts Centre, (Marian College) Prince Street Myrtleford
Lazzaro … Lazzaro …" is the familiar refrain among the farmhands of rural Italy, in Alice Rohrwacher's fable-like film, winner of Best Screenplay at Cannes 2018.
Within the dilapidated, bulb-lit rooms of over-populated households, and under the cool sheaths of sun-lit tobacco leaves, everyone's calling out for Lazzaro (Adriano Tardiolo), the cherubic, putty-faced protagonist of Happy as Lazzaro.
In the field, he's called upon to gather everyone's tobacco leaves; in the house, he's expected to carry around the ailing matriarch; at the chicken pen, he's asked to guard the hens, all night, from a lone wolf that's been haunting the town.
Light antipasto provided before and after movie.
Local wine and Italian beer available $5.00
